TRAFFIC calming measures are to be introduced near a Renfrewshire school in a bid to improve safety.
Renfrewshire Council officers agreed to make improvements after meeting with the headteacher at Renfrew High and monitoring the situation at the end of the school day.
Plans are being drawn up to create a one-way loop from the recycling centre in Dean Park Road to the school grounds.
There are also plans to include limited lengths of double yellow lines, in order to aid visibility.
Previous traffic calming measures for Haining Road were rejected by local residents but Councillor Jane Strang, who represents the area, hopes the council’s latest plans will be suitable.
She added: “Safety issues regarding traffic have been a perennial issue around Haining Road, especially when school pupils are being picked up.
“It is completely unacceptable that residents have found themselves unable to get in and out of their own driveways as a result of motorists using them.”
