POLICE are hunting two thugs after a man suffered a serious head injury when he was attacked in Renfrewshire.

The 42-year-old victim was assaulted in Clarence Street, in the Seedhill area of Paisley, at around 12.10pm on Tuesday.

He was taken to the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment before being released.

Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as a serious assault and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, in his early 30s, around 6ft tall and of stocky build with short brown hair. At the time, he was wearing a black jacket.

His accomplice, believed to also be in his early 30s, is described as around 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a two tone black and grey jacket.

Detective Constable Liam Rodgers, of Paisley police office, said: "This has been a random attack and we are keen for any information which can help trace those responsible.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage or CCTV of the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident reference number 1180 of October 19."
