TWO men have been arrested for alleged thefts in Renfrew.

It is claimed the duo were spotted stealing items from gardens in Marjory Road at around 12.10am this morning.

Police, who wouldn’t confirm what items were stolen, said the two men were also seen trying to open the doors of homes and parked cars.

Both suspects, aged 43 and 52, were quickly traced by officers and taken into custody.

They are due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.

Sergeant Kevin McGee said: "We would ask local residents to check their property and contact police if any items appear to be missing."

Anyone who can help the police with their investigation is asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident number 0017 of October 22.
