A RENFREW man will stand trial next year accused of making a bogus 999 call concerning a robbery and guns.
Anthony Fowler, 53, allegedly committed the offence on May 21 this year.
Prosecutors claim he did this for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to employees of Police Scotland.
Court papers state that he persistently made use of a public communications network in that he repeatedly dialled 999.
Fowler is then claimed to have falsely alleged there were guns at a property in Renfrew and that a robbery was taking place there.
It is stated that he repeatedly summoned police assistance when no such assistance was required.
Fowler is also alleged to have refused to engage with employees and failed to disclose his details.
He pled not guilty to the single charge when the case called at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.
A trial has been set for April next year and Fowler remains on bail in the meantime.
