HOSPICE bosses are appealing for information after heartless crooks attempted to break into a Renfrewshire charity shop.

It is understood the thieves smashed a glass door at the ACCORD Hospice store in Glasgow Road, Paisley, on Wednesday night.

The suspects then reportedly fled the scene after triggering the shop's alarm.

Images of the store's damaged door was shared by ACCORD Hospice on social media, with many people expressing their disgust at the crooks for targeting a charity shop.

In a Facebook post, the charity said: "Police are currently investigating a break-in at our Glasgow Road shop.

"If anyone has any information that could help, please get in touch with the police."

A police spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing following a break-in at a shop on Glasgow Road, in Paisley.

"The incident happened overnight between Wednesday, November 17, and Thursday, November 18.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident number 0501 of November 18."
