RENFREWSHIRE residents are being encouraged to recycle their real Christmas trees at one of six locations in the area.

Two recycling centres and four public parks are being made available to ensure that trees are disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner.

The service will be available from Monday, January 3, until Sunday, January 9, at Thomas Shanks Park, in Johnstone; Barwood Park, in Erskine; Lochwinnoch Public Park; and Barshaw Park, in Paisley.

Alternatively, head along to Linwood Recycling Centre, in Middleton Road, or Paisley Recycling Centre, in Underwood Road.

Councillor Cathy McEwan, convener of Renfrewshire’s infrastructure, land and environment policy board, said: “It’s never fun having to take down the Christmas tree but, when you do, please make sure it is recycled correctly at one of the six locations in Renfrewshire that we’ve made available.

“Recycling is so important, so let’s work together to ensure that all the trees are recycled correctly and make it your New Year’s resolution to recycle as much as you possibly can throughout the year – starting with your tree.”
