A MAN has been arrested following an alleged serious assault in Renfrewshire.
It is claimed the 24-year-old suspect attacked a 31-year-old woman with a bladed weapon in Dalskeith Crescent, Paisley, at around 12.30am on Sunday.
Police said the woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment to a severe cut on her face.
The suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
Following the incident, it is alleged that a 20-year-old man approached the crime scene and made homophobic comments towards a member of the public.
Nearby officers then arrested him and he was charged with a hate-aggravated breach of the peace.
He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.
