POLICE have confirmed the deaths of a man and woman at a Renfrewshire flat are not being treated as suspicious.

Officers were called to a property in Espedair Street, Paisley, at around 6.55pm on Monday.

The bodies of a 37-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were recovered from the flat.

The couple have since been named locally as Stephen Mclachlan and Lisa Gilchrist.

Paying tribute to his parents on social media, their son Stephen said: "RIP mum and dad, can’t believe this still not sunk in yet. 

"I love you both so much more than you will ever know. Love you both forever."

A police spokesperson said: "Around 6.55pm on Monday, January 10, police were called to a property on Espedair Street in Paisley where a 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were found dead within.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of their deaths, which at this time, police are not treating as suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
