DRIVERS in Renfrewshire are being warned to expect delays next week as maintenance work takes place on the M8 motorway.

The £195,000 project to improve the condition of the carriageway between Junction 28 and 28a westbound will lead to temporary closures.

Work will get underway on Friday, January 21, and is scheduled for completion on Thursday, January 27, with disruption expected between the hours of 9pm and 5am.

The overnight road closures of the M8 will be imposed between Junctions 27 and 29 westbound with a diversion in place.

On Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23, daytime single lane closures will be required between Junction 27 and 28a westbound.

Access to Glasgow Airport and the A737 will be maintained throughout the day.

Diverted vehicles will exit the M8 via Junction 27 Arkleston and travel south on A741 Renfrew Road. Traffic will travel east on A726 Weir Street, turn onto Old Sneddon Road followed by St. James' Street. Vehicles will then travel north on A726 Caledonia Street and turn onto Greenock Road. From here, traffic will re-join the M8 at Junction 29 St James. Interchange.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
