POLICE are hunting a group of youths after a man was left with serious facial injuries in Erskine.

A 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman had been making their way home when they were attacked in Linburn Road at around 2am on Sunday.

The man sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.

Police said the woman suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

The youths are described as being aged between 16 and 17 and were all wearing dark clothing at the time. They are believed to have made off in the direction of Lamont Farm.

Police are treating the incident as a serious assault.

Detective Constable Kate Wason, of Paisley CID, said "Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this unprovoked assault and we are very keen to trace the individuals responsible.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the attack who may have seen what happened to get in touch, including any drivers who might have dashcam footage that could assist our investigation."
