POLICE are hunting a thug who attacked a schoolboy in Linwood at the weekend.

The 15-year-old victim suffered a serious facial injury when he was assaulted with a weapon in Middleton Road at around 9.25pm on Saturday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment after the incident, which is being treated as a serious assault.

Police, who wouldn't confirm the type of weapon involved in the attack, said the victim was in a stable condition in hospital.

The suspect, who is believed to be aged between 15 and 17, is described as around 5ft 7ins tall, with brown or light ginger hair, and speaks with a local accent. 

At the time, he was wearing a black t-shirt and red shorts.

Detective Constable Robert Urquhart, from Paisley CID, said: "This incident saw a teenager sustain a serious facial injury and it is vital we trace the individual responsible.

"Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to contact us."
