A CYCLIST was taken to hospital after he was attacked by a gang of teenagers.

The 25-year-old victim had been cycling over the M8 footbridge which connects Arkleston Road and Cockels Loan, Renfrew, at around 6pm on Friday when he was pushed off his bike.

Police said the man suffered serious injuries during the incident, which involved teenage boys and girls.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment and later released.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the incident, which is being treated as serious assault.
