POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Renfrew.

The 27-year-old victim was left badly shaken after she was approached by a man on the Clyde Walkway, near Meadowside Street, at around 7.45pm on Monday.

Police said she did not need hospital treatment but have not released any further details about the assault.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, is described as 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build and had dark stubble.

At the time, he was wearing a grey hooded top and dark grey jogging bottoms.

Police said the suspect spoke with an East European accent.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has information that can help their investigation.

Inspector Damian Kane, head of community policing for Johnstone, Renfrew and the surrounding villages, said: “If anyone has any dashcam footage or has seen anyone who matches this description acting suspiciously in the area around this time, please get in touch.”
