It was party time for Johnstone Burgh at the weekend as they secured promotion by thumping Muirkirk 6-1 in their final game of the season.

The result means Burgh will be in the second tier of the West of Scotland Football League next season.

More than 600 fans at Keanie Park on Saturday were left stunned as Muirkirk went in front from the penalty spot.

However, Burgh hit back in devastating fashion with four goals before the break.

The Gazette:

Ruaridh Clark made it 1-1 with a free-kick, before Kieran Brophy scored to hand the home team the lead.

A Brian Connor goal and Jojo Gillespie penalty had Burgh cruising by the interval.

And they didn't take their foot off the gas in the second half, with Connor netting his second and Gillespie scoring another spot-kick to complete the rout.

Burgh manager Jamie McKim said: “The players were fantastic."
