A FLIGHT to Dubai from Glasgow Airport was delayed on Wednesday afternoon due to a drone being flown in the Inchinnan area.

Police were alerted to the incident amid concerns the drone was a safety hazard.

An investigation is ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, May 4, a report was made to police regarding a drone seen in the Inchinnan area, near Glasgow Airport.”

It's understood the Emirates flight was able to take off for its journey to the Middle East after a brief delay.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport confirmed runway operations were “paused” due to the drone sighting.

“No further action was required and operations were resumed in less than 10 minutes,” said the spokesperson.
