POLICE are appealing for information following the sudden death of a man in Renfrewshire this morning.

Officers raced to the scene of the incident near Junction 27 Arkleston of the M8, between Renfrew and Paisley, at around 4.20am on Monday.

The motorway was temporarily closed westbound while emergency services attended the scene.

Police said the death of the 56-year-old man is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

However, officers are keen to hear from anyone who has information about the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "While the death is not being treated as suspicious, officers are appealing for any information to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"If anyone was on the motorway around the time of the incident, in particular, any motorists with dash cams, please contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0325 of May 16."
