A woman was taken to hospital last night following a police incident that saw a stretch of the M8 near Glasgow Airport shut for over three hours.

Our sister paper The Glasgow Times previously reported that emergency services rushed to respond to a report of 'concern for a person' at junction 28 of the M8 Eastbound at around 5:45 pm.

It is understood that a number of fire service vehicles, police officers and ambulance crews attended the scene.

The road remained closed at junction 29 to 27 until 9:20 pm causing huge delays and tailbacks.

Police have now said that a 27-year-old woman was taken to hospital following the incident.

There has been no further information given regarding her condition at this time.
