A SPECTACULAR piping festival is set to return this summer with in-person events.
Piping Live! is back with its full programme for the first time since 2019, including in-the-flesh gigs and online events, to please both local and international audiences.
The Glasgow festival, organised for the 19th time, attracts over 30,000 people every year and will be held between Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 14.
Including performances, music sessions, recitals, talks, competitions, book launches, workshops and more, it celebrates the international piping community.
Finlay MacDonald, Artistic Director for Piping Live!, said: “We are delighted to be returning to our full programme of in-person events for 2022.
"We are looking forward to welcoming back pipers and drummers from across the globe with a lineup of new events and festival favourites.
"We are also really pleased to be able to offer a livestream of so many events as we know there are still many who can’t make it to Glasgow for this incredible week of music.”

This year's headline event will take place at the Old Fruitmarket, with multi award-winning folk band RURA, the hugely talented multi-instrumentalist Ross Ainslie and the winner of the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award and 2016 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award, Brìghde Chaimbeul.
Also performing are Liana Sharifian, the first ever Iranian professional female piper and daughter of the legendary Mohsen Sharifian, with her father and Habib Meftah, Estonian artists Est Pipes, Uilleann Piper Leonard Barry, and Hungarian duo Balázs Istvánfi and András Németh and more.
The flagship Pipe Major Alasdair Gillies Memorial Recital Challenge will also be held along with the International Quartet Competition and the Pipe Idol Final.
Attendees will also be able to watch the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland's 20th birthday performance at Glasgow’s City Halls.
With much more on the program, the nine-day festival promises to be an unforgettable experience for lovers of music.
