THIS year’s Renfrew Gala Day takes place at Robertson Park from noon until 5pm on Sunday, June 5, and families across Renfrewshire are invited to come along for the royal treatment.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Kings and Queens' to tie in with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Activities will include football, rugby, dance and circus skills, and there will also be a funfair and inflatables.

The McMaster Centre tearoom will be serving food and drink, along with a selection of food vendors, and there will be plenty of bargains on offer at the stalls.

Local musicians and dancers will provide live entertainment throughout the day.

Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron said: “Our gala days are very important for our communities, as they encourage people of all ages to join together in celebrating everything that’s good about the local area and I’m glad to see these return in 2022.

“It’s a fantastic day out for all the family and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.”

As part of Gala Week, there will be a special Renfrew on Film screening at Renfrew Town Hall on Tuesday, June 7.

The sold out screening will feature local films old and new, with music from Renfrew Burgh Band, and will include the premiere of a new film about local writer Ely Percy and a special celebration of 60 years of Kirklandneuk Primary School.
