A LARGE fire has broken out at a waste management service based in Linwood.
Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to Linwood Industrial Estate, in Burnbrae Road, at around 11.20am after rubbish was found ablaze.
Firefighters are still currently extinguishing the fire, with images and videos shared on social media showing a large plume of grey smoke from the blaze billowing into the sky.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.19am on Thursday, June 16, to reports of a fire affecting rubbish at a recycling centre in Linwood Industrial Estate, Burnbrae Road, Linwood.
“Operations control immediately mobilised six fire appliances and a height appliance to the location and firefighters are extinguishing the fire.
“Crews will leave the scene once the area is made safe.”
