HUNDREDS of fitness enthusiasts were able to take part in Bishopton 5k Fun Run, thanks to a donation from a leading housebuilder.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland was the sponsor of the event on Sunday, June 12, which was the first time the fun run had been held in-person since 2019.

Around 200 runners of all ages pounded the streets as they took on the 5k course around the village.

A spokesperson for Bishopton Week Group, who organised the event, told The Gazette: "We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation which allowed us to provide winners’ trophies, as well as a medal and finisher t-shirt for everyone who took part.

"We're delighted to see the return of this popular event to our Bishopton Week celebrations, and we are thrilled that so many members of the community got involved."

The Gazette:

The donation and assistance from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, who has built new homes at Dargavel Village, is one of the many contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.

Sales and marketing director Audrey Ross said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Bishopton 5k Fun Run in this way, and we are thrilled that our substantial donation gave this community event the boost they needed to deliver such a successful event for everyone who took part.

"Being able to work with local businesses and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference within the local communities where we build."
