LATEST weekly figures on deaths from Covid-19 reveal that Renfrewshire has avoided any further fatalities.

Data released by National Records of Scotland (NRS), covering the week ending June 19, shows the total number of fatalities in the area since the pandemic began more than two years ago remains at 692.

Across Scotland as a whole, 21 of the 32 council areas had at least one fatality involving Covid as the death toll rose by 41, pushing the overall total up to 14,901.

Worst hit was Fife, which had six deaths, followed by Glasgow and Aberdeenshire, each of which suffered four fatalities.

The figures differ from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths issued twice a week by Public Health Scotland, as the NRS statistics include suspected or probable cases of Covid.
