Two teenage girls have been charged by police after staging a rooftop protest at a residential school.

The pair climbed onto the roof of the Kibble care centre, in Goudie Street, Paisley, on Sunday night, prompting staff to alert the emergency services.

After three hours, specialist officers managed to talk the pair down safely.

The girls, aged 14 and 15, were then arrested and charged with breach of the peace and culpable and reckless behaviour.

A police spokesperson said: "Police received a report of a disturbance involving two females on the roof of a premises in Goudie Street, Paisley, around 8.25pm on Sunday.

"Officers attended and two females, aged 14 and 15, have been charged in connection with the incident. They will be reported to the Children's Reporter and the Procurator Fiscal."

Kibble, which is a charity, provides care to vulnerable young people aged between five and 25.
