A popular car show is returning to the shores of a Renfrewshire loch this year for its tenth anniversary.

Classics at Castle Semple will take place in the scenic surroundings of Castle Semple Country Park, which is part of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, on Sunday, October 30.

Aimed at classic and historic cars, with some room for classic motorbikes, too, the event has attracted many bygone beauties over the past decade to Lochwinnoch and this year promises to be no different.

Jane Fawcett, event organiser and staff member at Clyde Muirshiel, told the Gazette: “The carpark location of the show proves very popular with the classics' owners.

“Their pride and joy stays clean – as do they. It’s a very late show in the show calendar but that’s what attracts everyone.

"People aren’t ready to tuck their cars away for the year yet.

“It’s one last social jaunt to a cracking, easy to find destination.

“Time for a blether with friends, admire some automotive eye candy and a chance to win an award or two.”

The show, which has five awards up for grabs this year, raises money for St Vincent’s Hospice in Howwood, a charity which assists people living with life-limiting illnesses.

This is an organisation very close to Jane’s heart and even more so since her father passed away there in January 2020.

“Throughout Covid, so many charities suffered with events being cancelled and people being unable to complete their usual generous challenges,” she added.

“Let’s dig deep and support this incredible local charity who have helped so many people in our community.

“I’m sure everyone knows someone who has been helped by St Vincent’s Hospice.”
