Police investigating the disappearance of an East Renfrewshire man have confirmed a body has been recovered from water at the Craighall Dam, in Neilston.
Officers had launched a search for the 47-year-old man after he was reported missing shortly after 5pm yesterday.
A body was found near the Neilston Pad around six hours later.
Part of Kingston Road, which runs past Craighall Dam, was closed to traffic last night as a result of the grim discovery.
Police have confirmed the tragic death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson told the Barrhead News: "Officers received a report of a missing 47-year-old man from the Newton Mearns area around 5.15pm on Wednesday, July 27.
"Around 10.50pm, a body was recovered from the water near to Craighall Dam, Neilston.
"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the family of the missing man have been informed.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
