RANGERS have urged fans to represent the club in the "correct manner" and be "mindful of previous incidents in Europe" ahead of tonight's PSV clash.

The Ibrox club have urged supporters to be on their best behaviour for the Champions League qualifying match with the game a sell-out and attracting "unprecedented level of media interest" and "wider scrutiny".

The club asked fans to help create a "Blue Sea of Ibrox" for the match by wearing blue but warned any issues could lead to UEFA sanctions.

It comes after Rangers were forced to close a section of Ibrox for a 2019 Europa League clash against Legia Warsaw.

The club had to close at least 3,000 seats and display an "#EqualGame" banner after being punished by UEFA over "racist behaviour - which includes sectarian singing".

A statement from the Ibrox club this afternoon urged fans to keep the previous sanctions in mind and behaviour in a proper manner to avoid any further punishment.

The statement on the club website reads: "Rangers are incredibly proud of the amazing atmosphere that our fans create at Ibrox and supporters are encouraged to exemplify the best of our support to cheer on the team on the cusp of returning to the Champions League group stages.

"This game has attracted an unprecedented level of media interest and thus, wider scrutiny.

"Please ensure that you represent our club in the correct manner and be mindful of previous incidents in Europe which led to sections of our stadium being closed.

"With the match being completely sold out we are asking supporters to allow extra time to travel to the match and ensure they get into the stadium in plenty of time for kick-off."

The club also told supporters that police barriers will be in position at the ground ahead of tonight's match and the North West corner of the stadium could be closed off if deemed necessary.

The fan update added: "Please note that Police Scotland have indicated that the police barriers will be in position.

"The current intention is for supporters to have access around the stadium but Police Scotland have the option to close off the North West corner of the stadium should they believe it is in the interests of spectator safety."
