Thousands of people gathered in Paisley town centre for the launch of a spooktacular Halloween festival.

Hailed as one of the "biggest and best of its kind", the three-day event kicked off on Thursday night with a range of spellbinding attractions from aerial acrobats to flame throwers and even a fire-breathing dragon.

The free-to-attend event will continue Friday and Saturday, from 6pm to 9pm, against the grand backdrop of Paisley Abbey.

Those who are brave enough to visit can look forward to an action-packed programme of live performances from professional and local performers as well as specially created installations and children's activities.

The Paisley Halloween Festival is delivered by Renfrewshire Council in partnership with internationally-recognised circus performance specialists Cirque Bijou, and supported by EventScotland's National Events Programme.
