Families can have a magical time at a Renfrewshire church as it hosts a special festive event next month.

Youth arts charity Create Paisley will stage its first 'Christmas Carol' concert at the town's Methodist Central Halls, in Gauze Street, on Wednesday, December 14, starting at 7.30pm.

The evening will see performances from Paisley's very own Rock Choir, who will deliver a mix of festive favourites as well as some more recent hits to get the audience in the festive spirit.

Glasgow musician and busker Ross Anderson, who starred in The Voice in 2018 and got to the quarter finals on Jennifer Hudson's team, will be belting out some classic Christmas hits to entertain guests and will be complemented by a reading from Renfrewshire’s poet laureate and Tannahill Maker Shaun Moore.

Attendees will also be able to learn about the work Create Paisley does to transform young lives through creative opportunities across Renfrewshire.

Refreshments will be available, as well as a selection of Christmas crafts made by young people from the charity.

Celia Maclean, Create Paisley's fundraising and marketing manager, said: "Create Paisley is delighted to be launching this exciting festive fundraising event in partnership with the Rock Choir.

"We have been keen to develop our fundraising activities over the last few years as we have grown as an organisation but due to the pandemic we have had to hold off on events such as these but it will be great to see our supporters and young people come together once again.

"We have endeavoured to make this event as affordable and family friendly as possible due to the current economic climate. We have gifted a number of tickets to the young people we work with and their families so they can enjoy the festive cheer and we would encourage the people of Renfrewshire to join us for a wonderful evening for a great cause."

Lisa Doherty, youth development manager at Create Paisley, added: "I am really looking forward to seeing this event bring people back together to enjoy an evening of festive cheer and have a chance to celebrate the work of Create.

"We have had a very busy year and demand for our services continues to grow, as a result we are recruiting for a number of Youth Work vacancies which can be found on our website by visiting createpaisley.org.uk/jobs/ so not only can people support us through our carol concert but they can also join us as part of our team delivering high quality creative youth work across Renfrewshire."

Tickets cost £6 (adults) and £4 (children).
