TENANTS at a sheltered housing development in Erskine have staged an art exhibition.
The event took place at Bargarran Community Centre and showcased a range of impressive designs.
A variety of genres were represented, with some paintings and drawings depicting realistic renderings of animals, wildlife and landscapes, while others took a more abstract approach to portraying people and buildings.
The exhibition was attended by the tenants, along with their relatives and friends, who provided positive feedback on the high standard of artwork on display.
It featured the portfolios of those who attend creative art classes organised by Bridgewater Housing Association’s housing support team and delivered by community artist Liz Shephard.
The free weekly sessions, held at the Bargarran Community Centre, are able to run thanks to funding from the Co-op and the National Lottery.
Several of the residents who attend the classes shared their experiences of taking part.
Jackie Scanlon told The Gazette: “I am delighted, I never thought I could have done art. Great company, getting to know each other, meeting new people.
Barbara McMahon said: “I really enjoy coming to classes. Meeting new people and friends, as well as learning things I haven’t done before.”
Chris Murray described his fellow students as “great, nice people” and was pleased to “get to do things I have never done before, like using charcoal.”
Gwen Ross added: “I’m absolutely loving classes having never drawn before. The teachers are doing so well with me.”
