History buffs are being invited to step back in time and learn some interesting facts about Renfrewshire.

Several free talks held by expert tour guides will be taking place at Shopmobility Paisley and District's base in the town's Storie Street.

The charity has teamed up with Paisley Darkside Historical Walking Tours to organise three events, which are being funded by Renfrewshire Council's Winter Connections programme.

The presentations will take place on February 22, March 1 and March 8, with each of them running from noon to 3pm.

Karen Miller said: "When we heard about the Winter Connections project we were keen to get involved and show our support.

"We already work closely with Paisley Darkside Historical Walking Tours and even have Paisley's history expert Les Fernie as our Shopmobility Ambassador, so it made sense to focus on bringing our history to life."

David Roy, of Paisley Darkside Historical Walking Tours, added: "I am delighted to be part of Shopmobility's Winter Connection and promise to deliver an exciting range of presentations on the history of Paisley and Renfrewshire.

"Weather permitting, we may even hold some of the presentations outdoors for those who fancy it – with the full support of Shopmobility's mobility scooters and wheelchairs if required."

A lunch will be provided at the events and all attendees can also find out about the Shopmobility service.

Those interested in attending are urged to book a place in advance, as a limited number of spaces are available.
