A Renfrewshire charity is looking to recruit a new volunteer secretary to join their team.

The role will involve helping Shopmobility Paisley and District, which plays a pivotal role across Renfrewshire hiring free and low-cost mobility scooters and wheelchairs to help tackle the social isolation that many people with either temporary or permanent mobility issues often face.

The charity is also looking to develop its services, such as working on social enterprise initiatives to help generate more of its own income.

Karen Miller, office manager at Shopmobility Paisley and District, said: "This is exciting opportunity for anyone looking to volunteer with a forward thinking, dynamic charity and social enterprise."

Councillor Kenny MacLaren, chairperson of the charity, added: "We've had a very busy year with a lot of new developments within Shopmobility Paisley and District and are all looking forward driving this charity forward to help support anyone in Renfrewshire who has mobility problems.

"We're making the move to become a social enterprise to help generate more of our own income from scooter repair and maintenance and are on the lookout for a new volunteer to join our small board of directors."
