Two Renfrew residents have told of their excitement as they launch their new takeaway business in the town.

Scott Mcatear and Robert Reid, both 37, welcomed their first customers to Geez Piece, in Dunvegan Quadrant, on Friday.

Fresh food, coffee, cakes and milkshakes are on offer at the breakfast and lunch takeaway, which offers both walk-in and delivery service.

Scott has previously worked as a chef at a number of popular eateries such as The Farm at No 12, in Inchinnan, as well as Paisley's Café Lusso and Food Forty Six.

He is now hoping to wow customers with the culinary skills he has honed over the past 15 years.

Scott told The Gazette: "I'm feeling a whole mix of emotions to be honest - excited, nervous and stressed above all else right now.

"It's been something I've always wanted to do since I started working in restaurants and cafes about 15 years ago.

"Robert and I always spoke about opening something, as we've known each other and still share the same group of friends since the end of high school but never really did anything about it.

"Then the guys from the Day Today store in Kirklandneuk, who I have known for many years as I grew up there, approached me with an opportunity and I decided if I didn't do it now, I never would."

His plan to launch a takeaway business was further boosted thanks to the involvement of Robert, who previously worked for the IT department of engineering company Doonsan Babcock.

Scott said: "We decided to go for it together as he has more experience in IT, payroll and accounts in the past, which I am less clued up on and thought our skill set would be complementary.

The Gazette:

"The name Geez Piece for a café has been in my head for a while for a few reasons, as it's what my mum used to say to me when I said I was going to open my own place.

"It's also what I always shouted every time I heard the endless drone of the delivery platform tones in the kitchen, however, I'm sure they won't be quite as irritating sounding now."

Robert added: "I'm feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement, as I'm giving up a full-time job to go into this.

"We would encourage people to check out our social media channels, look at our menu and come along to give it a try.

"We are pretty confident that people will like what we have on offer."
