AN Elderslie woman has hit out after her bathroom window was smashed in.

Heather Cameron, 32, discovered that the window of her family home was broken on Monday, May 1, at around 5pm.

Shortly before, Heather said she heard a “bang” and just thought it was her brother who was cleaning.

The 32-year-old said: “I don’t really know what happened to be perfectly truthful with you.

“I was in the living room of my house and that is at the front of the building, and we just heard a bang.

“I thought it was my brother who was in the bathroom cleaning.”

Heather continued to say: “I went looking about to see if anything had fallen and then looked up at the bathroom window and it was smashed.”

The Elderslie woman believes it could have been youths who were spotted nearby.

However, it’s not the first time stones have been thrown at the house.

She said: “It’s happened previously, quite a lot of times.

“To us and other people.

“It happens all the time. If it’s not stones being thrown at the windows, we have had black bins thrown over the fence and currently, we’ve got someone’s trainer in the garden.

“We can’t go out and hang a washing out the backdoor without something flying over.”

Paying to fix the window has also come at a cost to Heather.

She said: “The insurance wanted a £300 excess, so we’ve had to go to a glazier in Paisley and pay it off our own back for the window to be fixed.”

The Elderslie woman reported the incident to Police Scotland who have confirmed they are investigating the issue.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police in Renfrewshire are investigating after the window of a property in Queens Road, Elderslie was smashed.

“The incident happened around 6.05pm on Monday, May 1, and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.”
