Five members of a youth group based in Renfrewshire have been presented with the Queen's Badge during a special event.

The busy service at Renfrew North Church, in Renfield Street, on Sunday, May 14 saw local people celebrating 135 years of the Boy's Brigade in the area.

To earn the Queen’s Badge, the five members had to undertake 30 hours service in the company plus 30 hours service in their community.

A spokesperson for the Boy's Brigade said: "The ex-members present were proud to see the future of their old organisation looking ahead and is in good hands too.

"One theme which emerged on that day was one of old friendships renewed and new friendships cross the generations.

"Another theme which emerged was memories of fun and companionship in the activities they all took part in."

Renfrewshire Provost Lorraine Cameron, Paisley and Renfrewshire North MP Gavin Newlands and local councillors attended the event, along with Very Reverend Lorna Hood, the former Moderator of The General Assembly at The Church of Scotland.
