OneRen’s ‘Cool Summer’ programme has been launched with a fun-filled programme of activities for the entire family.

Running from June 1 to August 11, it will see summer activity camps and football camps return to On-x, in Linwood, and Park Mains High School, in Erskine.

Dance and movement camps will be held at On-x as well as a disability sport dance club.

A disability sport and activity club will also take place at The Lagoon in Paisley.

The Gazette:

As well as clubs and camps, OneRen will also be offering a “great-value” family summer swim pass across all of their pools.

There will also be fun swim sessions at Renfrew Victory Baths and summer splash sessions at the Johnstone Community Sports Hub.

Pitch play sessions costing just £1 will be available at the Johnstone Hub.

Fiona Watson, sport and health Manager at OneRen, told the Gazette: “While we look forward to some warm weather, OneRen is all set to deliver a massive Cool Summer programme.

“Our hugely popular Summer Camps are ideal to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays.”

Along with opportunities for physical activity, Renfrewshire Libraries are also excited to launch their summer reading challenge 2023 ‘”Ready, Set, Read.”

Those interested can sign up at their library or on the Skoobmobile from Saturday, June 24.

The Skoobmobile is a specially adapted mobile library outreach service which travels around.

The Gazette:

Participants will receive a free Ready, Set, Read core pack and have the chance to collect golden book stickers and solve puzzles as they make their way through the challenge.

Local business Consilium Contracting Service will also be sponsoring a prize of a pair of cinema tickets for a lucky winner in every library.

“Whether it’s enjoying physical activities or football, dance and indoor sport or taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge, there really is something for everyone to take part in,” added Fiona.

“We hope everyone can take part and avoid claims that there’s nothing to do during the summer months.

“Even if the weather gets hot, we will make sure it’s a very cool summer.”
