Tributes have been paid to a Paisley man who died after a road crash.

John Morton, 64, has been named by police as the victim of the tragic incident, which took place in Fielden Street, Glasgow, at around 8.40am on Monday, May 29.

The cyclist was injured as a result of the crash, which involved a grey Audi A3, and died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Thursday, June 1.

Scores of people have now offered their condolences on social media to friends and family of Mr Morton.

One wrote: "RIP John, you did your best but it wasn't to be."

Another said: "John was one of life's good guys, known him for 45 years through our jobs linked in Glasgow fish market."

A third added: "Thoughts and prayers are with John's family at this horrible time, absolute gentleman of a man."

Police said their investigation into the fatal crash is continuing.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts added: "Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time for them.

"Enquiries into the crash are ongoing and anyone with information that may assist us should contact 101 with reference number 0737 of May 29, 2023."
