Johnstone Burgh boss Jamie McKim has revealed he is “delighted” on signing a new “top young” goalkeeper.

It comes after the club announced that they signed keeper Kenzie Smyth from St Mirren on Tuesday, July 25.

The new signing made his debut with the Renfrewshire-based side at the weekend as a trialist and now has signed a two-year contract.

He will now challenge Jamie McGowan and Graham Black for the number-one jersey this season.

In a statement on social media, Johnstone Burgh’s Gaffer said: “I’m delighted to bring Kenzie to the club.

“He is a top young goalkeeper with a bright future in the game. He has all the attributes we look for when recruiting a goalkeeper to play in our system and I think working with Jim, Jamie & Graham will benefit him massively.”

Fans flocked to the comments to welcome the new player.

One said: “Cracking lad you’ve snapped up there. Well done, Kenzie.”

While another added: “He’s a keeper.”
