A DRIVER has been fined after emergency service crews raced to a two-vehicle smash near Kilbarchan earlier this evening.

Cops received a report of the incident on the A761 near the junction for Barnscroft Road at around 6.15pm on Monday, August 14.

It is understood no one was injured in the crash, however, one motorist was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 6.15pm on Monday, August 14, we were called to a report of a two-car crash on the A761 near the junction for Barnscroft Road.

“Emergency service attended and there are no reported injuries.

“One motorist was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

“Recovery has been arranged."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.17pm on Monday, 14 August to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Bridge of Weir Road, Kilbarchan.

"Operations control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene to make the area safe. "One casualty was within the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service."
