Renfrewshire Council have launched a childcare consultation to get feedback on the future needs of parents and carers.

It asks those with children and young people up to the age of 14 about their childcare needs, such as nursery and childminding, out-of-school care and school holiday childcare.

People who are pregnant with their first child or planning to become parents in the future are also encouraged to fill out the form.

Councillor Emma Rodden, education and children’s services convener, told the Gazette: “Knowing what our parents and carers need from childcare and nursery provision is absolutely vital for Renfrewshire Council.

“This valuable information will allow us to not only assess how well our services are meeting current needs, but also to anticipate the changes and developments that will be required in the years to come.

“Having a full picture of the situation for families in the local area will make it easier for us to see where resource is best focused to support our parents and caregivers and perhaps alleviate some of the challenges that they face.

“This consultation is carried out every two years and I would encourage as many parents and carers as possible to take part.”

The consultation is open until Monday, September 25.
