A TENEMENT building blaze in Paisley is being treated as deliberate, cops have confirmed.

We previously reported that emergency service crews rushed to a fire on Clavering Street at around 9.52pm on Monday, September 18.

In total, three fire vehicles and one height appliance were sent to the scene where crews battled a blaze on the external face of a four-storey tenement building.

It is understood no casualties were reported following the incident.

Now, officers have confirmed the fire is being treated as "wilful" and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We received a report of a fire at a premises on Clavering Street East, Paisley, around 10.20pm on Monday, September 18.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 9.52pm on Monday, September 18, to reports of a building fire at Clavering Street in Paisley.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances and a height appliance to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire external face of a four-storey tenement building.

"No casualties were reported and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
