Staff at a nursery in Johnstone have been praised after being issued with a positive report car by education watchdogs.

We previously reported that Gleniffer Nursery, in Floors Street, was graded as "good" for its care, play and learning, as well as for its setting, leadership and staff team.

Officers from the Care Inspectorate who made an unannounced visit earlier this year found youngsters "happy and settled" at the nursery.

The Gazette:

Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur was recently invited to the nursery after he wrote to offer his congratulations for their best inspection report in over a decade.

The SNP politician was given a tour of the facilities by nursery owner Morag MacAulay and manager Danielle McKinnon.

Mr Arthur, of the SNP, said: "I was delighted to hear about Glennifer Nursery's great inspection report, where they received their best rating in 11 years, achieving 'good' gradings in all four areas.

"It was great to be invited over for a catch-up with Morag and Danielle at the nursery and to be able to see around the building and speak to them about the amazing community engagement work they are doing."

The Gazette:

Gleniffer Nursery, which provides care and education for babies and children from Johnstone, Linwood and the surrounding villages, is also celebrating their 25th year of supporting local families.

Mr Arthur added: "It is easy to see why the nursery has become such a stalwart locally over the 25 years they have been operating.

"In fact, some of the children who now attend Glennifer have parents who attended when they were young too. If that is not a ringing endorsement of the standard of service, then I do not know what is!

"Thank you so much to Morag, Danielle and the staff. Here's to their next 25 years serving the community in Johnstone."
