A MANHUNT has been launched for a driver who fled the scene after crashing their motor into a concrete bench in Renfrew town centre.

It comes after we previously reported a blue car has been pictured smashed into a bench next to the war memorial on Hairst Street in the town.

Now, cops have confirmed they attended the accident at around 10am on Tuesday, November 14.

Officers also revealed the driver of the vehicle made off following it, while Renfrewshire Council also confirmed they're aware of the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.10am on Tuesday, November 14, police received a report of a single vehicle crash on Harist Street, Renfew.

"The driver of the vehicle left the area. Enquiries to trace the driver and establish the circumstances remain ongoing."
