A YOUNG lad was reportedly chased by two thugs with "knives" on a busy street in Bridge of Weir yesterday.

It comes after officers received a report of a 13-year-old boy having been chased by two young boys in the Main Street area at around 4pm on Wednesday, December 13.

Following the incident, a social media post claimed that while the teenager was walking back from school, he was pursued by the pair with "pocket knives".

Now, the social media user is warning others in the area to "take care and stay safe" after the disturbance.

Police Scotland didn't confirm whether knives were involved during the incident, however, they confirmed investigations are underway.

A spokesperson said: "We received a report of a 13-year-old boy having been chased by two male youths in the Main Street area of Bridge of Weir around 4pm on Wednesday, December 13.

"Enquiries are at an early stage."
