RESIDENTS looking to access council services over Christmas and New Year are being urged to check for opening hours and emergency contacts.

It comes after Renfrewshire Council revealed many of its services will close or operate on an emergency basis from 2.30pm on Friday, December 22, although all lifeline services will continue to operate and online services will remain available.

On top of that, the local authority says a "handy guide" has been prepared for residents on the council website outlining opening hours and contact numbers for any services such as care at home, bin collections, community meals, and emergency repairs.

Services will resume normal operating hours again from Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Councillor Marie McGurk, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board, said: “I want to thank all our staff who provide services for local people, not just at Christmas but throughout the year, and I hope they all have the chance to spend some quality time with friends and family.

“It’s important though that residents know our lifeline services are still available during the festive period and they should not hesitate to get in touch should they need us, with our website having all our emergency contacts and opening hours in one place.

“Our online services continue to be available when council offices are closed, and our services will return to normal operating hours from Thursday 4 January 2024.”
