A busy dual carriageway will close every night for almost two weeks for works.

Work to install vehicle-activated signs on the A737 will take place each night from Monday, February 5 until Saturday, February 17 between 8pm and 6am. 

This will affect the road between the St James interchange and Kilbarchan and aims to improve the carriageway's safety by reducing the speed of vehicles.

The following overnight road closures on the A737 will be in place:

Eastbound between Linwood and Johnstone will close on Monday, February 5 and Monday, February 12, and a single-lane closure will be in place on Tuesday, February 6.  

Between Johnstone and Kilbarchan will close on Tuesday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 13, and a single-lane closure will be in place on Wednesday, February 7.  

Between Kilbarchan and Johnstone will close on Wednesday, February 7 and Wednesday, February 14, and a single-lane closure will be in place on February 8.  

Between Johnstone and Linwood will close on Thursday, February 8 and Thursday, February 15, and a single lane closure will be in place on February 9.  

Between Linwood and St James is to be closed on Friday, February 9 and Friday, February 16, and a single-lane closure will be in place on February 10.

Between St James and Linwood will close on Saturday, February 10 and Saturday, February 17, and a single-lane closure will be in place on February 11.

The following signed diversions will be in place:

From Elliston Junction and Barrochan Interchange, northbound vehicles a shall exit the A737 at Elliston Junction, follow the B787 via Cochranemill Road and Kilbarchan Road to Barrochan Interchange.

Southbound vehicles shall follow the route in reverse.  

Between Barronchan Interchange to Linclive Interchange where northbound vehicles shall follow the A761 via B789 taking the 3rd exit towards Linclive Interchange.

Southbound vehicles shall take the route in reverse. 

Between Linclive Interchange and St James Interchange, northbound vehicles shall exit at Linclive Interchange taking the A761 via Ferguslie to Calendonia Street and Greenock Road where they can join the A737 via St James Interchange.

Southbound vehicles shall take the route in reverse.
