Arthurlie boss Colin Reilly remains confident his players have what it takes to beat the drop after they picked up a valuable point against Pollok on Saturday.

The Barrhead team twice came from behind in a four-goal thriller at Dunterlie Park.

It was a difficult start for the home team as they fell behind in the opening minutes when Chris Duff’s low free-kick crept into the far corner of the net.

Graham Black was at his best between the posts for Arthurlie in the first half as he kept out a penalty from Fraser Mullen.

Dylan Dykes then converted a spot-kick of his own midway through the second period to pull the Barrhead men level.

A goal from Stephen Docherty put Pollok back in front 10 minutes later but Conor Bolger curled home a free-kick in the closing stages to ensure the points would be shared.

The result leaves Arthurlie still in the Premier Division relegation zone but, with games in hand over teams above them, survival remains very much in their control.

It has been a frustrating time for Reilly's team recently, with postponements and free weekends making it difficult to build momentum, but he remains upbeat.

Reflecting on the Pollok match, Reilly told Barrhead Sport: “We lost an early goal and never got settled but, with the chances we had in the second half, it felt like two points dropped.

“Graham has saved the penalty and had another two great saves on top of that to keep us in the game but we battled through it and managed a draw.

"It could turn out to be a massive point come the end of the season.

“We’re in February and we’ve only had three league fixtures since the turn of the year, which is bizarre.

“There are still 14 league games to go and nothing is decided. We’ve got really good unity amongst the boys and we all trust each other and believe we will get out of where we are.”

Arthurlie go again this weekend as they host St Cadoc’s, with Reilly keen for his team to avoid leaving themselves with a mountain to climb.

He added: “We had a 25-minute spell of madness against St Cadoc’s last time where we lost four goals but, other than that, we matched them in every department and we still came back for a draw that day.

“It will be a battle and is one we need to make sure we are ready for.”

Kick-off on Saturday is at 2pm.
