Running for its fifth year, the Paisley Book Festival has just announced its 2024 programme with some famous faces.

The jam-packed festival runs from Thursday, April 25, to Saturday, April 28 and takes place in Paisley’s recently refurbished Town Hall and the new Paisley Central Library.

The theme for the event this year is ‘Imagine Something Different’ which organisers hope will encourage audiences to embark on a journey of discovery into the world of storytelling.

Programmer Jess Orr is returning to run her fourth festival: “It’s great to be back in Paisley and to have the opportunity to bring some of Scotland’s finest writers - plus a few from further afield - to these stunning venues, as they help us to imagine different worlds and possibilities in a programme of fun and inspiration for all ages.”

Tennis coach Judy Murray, broadcaster Sally Magnusson and national footballing hero Pat Nevin are just some of the names announced with a full programme now available online.

Cllr Lisa Marie Hughes, chair of OneRen, said: “We can't wait to welcome people to Paisley Book Festival 2024 and to our fantastic venues.

“Books have the power to transport people to other worlds and times, both real and fictional. They help us explore the stories of people we've never met and places we have not been. This year's spectacular and diverse program offers so many of them; there really is something for everyone.”

The last day of the festival will be a dedicated ‘family day’ with interactive workshops and performances including puppet making and interactive storytelling.

Family day events can be pre-booked, or families can just drop in.

Most of the festivals event are on a ‘pay what you can basis,’ organisers say they want to make the arts accessible to all.
