A teenager is expected to appear in court for alleged drug offences after a police chase in Paisley.

The incident had taken place on Saturday, April 6, just after 11am on Underwood Road.

Police attempted to stop a car for "road traffic offences", however, a short chase ensued after the driver reportedly failed to stop.

The pursuit came to an end when the car crashed on Underwood Road at Caledonia Street.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged for alleged road traffic and drug offences.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sherrif Court today (Monday, April 8).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11am on Saturday, April 6, police attempted to stop a car on Underwood Road, Paisley, in connection with road traffic offences.

"A short pursuit took place, which came to an end when the car crashed in on Underwood Road at Caledonia Street.

“A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic and drug offences.

“He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, April 8, and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities.”
