A free event which featured a variety of activities designed to bring the community together has been hailed a success.

The Why Not? Trust hosted the occasion at the Tannahill Centre on Blackstoun Road in Paisley to celebrate the second anniversary of The Village.

The Village is a “welcoming digital community” created by and for new parents and parents-to-be with care experience in partnership with several organisations.

It offers access to information and resources and a place to find a friendly ear to offload or chat to, as well as support through peer mentoring.

Moira Greentree, executive director of The Why Not? Trust told the Gazette: “We are delighted by the turnout and success of our recent celebration event.

“A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, little ones, and local organisations who helped make the day memorable.

“From face painting and games to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new faces, the event was a fantastic celebration of community spirit.

“We are especially grateful to Renfrewshire Council and the Renfrewshire Children's Services Partnership for their support through the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.

“Their funding has been an important part of supporting both this event and our ongoing work in Renfrewshire.”

For anyone unable to attend, but keen to get involved, there are still ways to do so.

The Village welcomes anyone who would like to learn more about the initiative to get in touch.

They offer peer mentoring and will soon be introducing free baby yoga and massage classes.

“As part of Renfrewshire’s whole-family wellbeing service, we are excited to grow and connect with more parents and families in the area,” added Moira.

“Whether you’re a new parent looking to join our community, or an organisation interested in collaborating, we look forward to meeting you.”
