The team behind one of Paisley’s most popular Facebook pages has launched a brand new podcast which they hope will become ‘a voice for the people.’

The All About Paisley podcast recently released its first episode, featuring Gavin Divers, the founder of popular page Paisley Heritage, alongside the group's event manager Rachael Smith and tech specialist Craig White.

Episodes two and three are now also available, with new shows released every Sunday.

Celebrating all things Paisley, Gavin said the podcast would be a fun way to learn about the town’s history and share the stories of its residents past and present.

“We were thinking about doing a podcast for a while,” Gavin said. “We were going to do a history podcast, but we thought ‘what if we pigeonhole ourselves, and want to do other things?’

“We thought there’s a good opportunity to do one that’s ‘all about Paisley,’ that covers anything Paisley and gives a platform to lots of different people.

“I hope people find that the podcast can be a voice for themselves. We’ll have anybody on the podcast to talk about anything - as long as they’re sober!”

Episode three, released on September 29, was the first to feature a guest - none other than Renfrewshire's Provost Lorraine Cameron.

“Talk about starting at the top!” said Gavin, adding that the show has a number of other interesting guests booked in to appear already.

“It’s fantastic, the amount of people that will be on it,” he said. “We’ve got an extensive list of guests lined up.

“I can tease that one guest will be a descendant of the Clarks, which I think is pretty magical.”

Gavin said that podcasts are a fantastic way to learn new things while getting on with other business.

“I think podcasts are a great medium,” he said. “You can have them on while you’re driving, tidying the house.

“It’s a good way to have a proper chat that humanises people, instead of it being some turgid interview with rigid questions. They really give you a good opportunity to understand people.”

Gavin says he has high hopes for the show, and that they are exploring a number of exciting ideas for episodes.

“The possibilities are endless,” he said. “We’re working on a Halloween special at the moment, which we’re hoping to do in the Coats memorial building - maybe with live phone-ins, so people can tell ghost stories.

“It’s taken a wee while to get up and running, but it’s off the ground now - so there’s no stopping us now.”
